About this course

Organized by Professionals Training Institute (PTI), a training wing of Sustainable Research & Consultancy Limited (SRCL), this programme builds foundational knowledge and practical experience in GIS and remote sensing for research, environmental assessment, infrastructure planning, and development projects. The course combines theory, instructor-led demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and project-based learning using ArcGIS (ArcMap).

What you’ll learn

  • Understand fundamental GIS and remote sensing concepts and applications.
  • Manage, process, and visualize spatial datasets using ArcMap.
  • Apply essential geoprocessing techniques for spatial analysis.
  • Perform raster processing, DEM analysis, and mapping.
  • Produce professional study area and thematic maps.
  • Conduct introductory GIS-based site suitability assessments using raster analysis.
  • Apply geospatial skills in academic research, technical assignments, and professional projects.

Who should attend?

Undergraduate and postgraduate students, recent graduates, researchers, and early-career professionals in environmental science, geography, urban and regional planning, engineering, and development are welcome. The programme also suits anyone seeking foundational GIS knowledge and practical mapping experience.

Prerequisites: Basic computer literacy is recommended. Prior professional GIS experience is not required.
