The “Enhance Production of Oil Crops (EPOC) Project (2nd Phase)” aims to expand oil crop cultivation and increase production to reduce edible oil import dependency in Bangladesh. The project will promote modern short-duration varieties of mustard, sesame, sunflower, groundnut and soybean, targeting a 10%–15% increase in both cultivated area and yield. It will also support block-based farmer groups, introduce modern technologies and integrate bee-keeping to improve productivity. With an estimated cost of BDT 99,598.33 lakh, the project is expected to save around BDT 2,000 crore in foreign currency. The project will be implemented from July 2026 to June 2031 and is categorized as a “Green” project.
